Very Rare Anna Pottery Stoneware Figure of a Spaniel, attributed to Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1875-1885, large-sized, salt-glazed stoneware figure of a seated spaniel with heavily-incised body, the face with incised eyes and muzzle. Collar with incised diamond pattern and border. Large, deeply-incised claws. Brown cold-painted surface. One of a small number of Anna Pottery spaniels known. Large flake to side of muzzle and flake along top edge of muzzle. Chip to base on reverse. The base flake and damage to muzzle are painted-over brown, suggesting this damage may have occurred during the firing or shortly afterward. H 11 1/4".
