Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1815, ovoid-bodied pitcher with narrow, flaring collar accented with incised lines, the reverse with small, ribbed handle. Impressed with Clarkson Crolius, Sr. maker's mark at midsection. Surface of pitcher covered in Albany slip. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned from New Jersey. Contact mark to shoulder. Otherwise excellent condition. H 10 3/4".
