Unusual Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Mug with Sgraffito Elk Decoration, Dated 1878, tapered mug with rounded foot, the front decorated with an elk standing in the water beside two trees, along with a flying bird in the distance. Initials "J.W.H." incised below. Vine design around shoulder and along handle. Dated 1878 under handle. Impressed "J.H" on underside along with an insignia with English crown. Excellent condition. H 6".
