Very Rare Stoneware Dog Doorstop with Albany Slip Decoration, Inscribed "D. Miller," Huntingdon County or Greene County, PA origin, circa 1860-1880, molded figure of a reclining dog with impressed circular eyes, the body decorated in a tanware style with curved swags of mottled brown Albany slip. Reverse side of dog inscribed "D. Miller" in Albany slip, possibly the owner or maker of the figure. While examples of this particular form are known, this is the first we have seen bearing a name and decoration. Heavy chipping to base. In-the-firing cracks. L 7".
