One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder and semi-squared rim, cobalt-decorated with a fat-bodied bird perched on a leaf. The cobalt slip was carved away prior to firing in order to produce the eye of the bird. Minor chip at base and on underside of jug. H 11 1/2."
