Rare Squat-Shaped Stoneware Advertising, probably Union Pottery Co., Newark, NJ, circa 1875, short, rotund jug with rounded spout and applied handle, slip-trailed in cobalt with the advertising "L.E. Brown / Grocer / Little Silver." Little Silver is located in Monmouth County, NJ. The squat form of this jug, which makes it very difficult for it to tip over, suggests it may have been made for use on ships. Mint condition. H 7 5/8".
