Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder, tall spout, and applied handle, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed cobalt design of a crested bird with turned head and paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Excellent color. Some small spots of wear to cobalt. Two small spout chips. 1" x 1" filled and colored contact mark in decoration near base. Staining to surface. H 14 1/2".
