Albany Slip Glazed Stoneware Suitland, MD Whiskey Jug, possibly Midwestern origin, circa 1870, small-sized cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder and spout, impressed with the advertising "LITTLE BROWN JUG / OLD 1869 RYE WHISKEY / DISTILLED BY / THE S.T. SUIT DISTILLING CO. / SUITLAND, MD." Surface covered in a reddish-brown Albany slip glaze. Base chip and a short in-the-firing line, visible on interior of spout only. H 8 1/4".
