Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird on Stump, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1870, semi-ovoid jug with incised shoulder lines, decorated with a cobalt bird with long tail and dotted and striped wing, seated atop a detailed stump. A fine example of a Cowden bird. Base flake and base chip. Height 15".
