Rare Molded Porcelain Corn Pitcher, attributed to the Southern Porcelain Company, Kaolin, SC, circa 1856-1860, ovoid pitcher with footed base, upswept spout, and spurred handle in the form of a stylized corn stalk, the surface featuring an elaborate relief pattern of corn stalks bearing ears of corn. White clay body with high luster. Typical of pieces from this pottery, the pitcher exhibits a greenish hue when held under light. A related example resides in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY. Very nice condition with some typical in-the-making blackish spotting to surface, kiln scars to bottom edge, and the top spur of the handle with some tight lines and a short in-the-firing fissure.
