Glazed Open-Handled Redware Jar, attributed to Greene County, TN, circa 1820-1850, ovoid jar with footed base, flattened rim, and two vertical-strap handles applied at the shoulder, the surface covered in a heavy lead glaze creating a bright-orange surface. Referred to by Wahler as "the Great Pumpkin." Provenance: Found by John Haynes. Chips and wear to rim. Each handle with wear and a shallow flake. Surface wear to body of jar. A few small in-the-firing flaws to body. Chips and wear to foot. Wear to underside. Exfoliation to interior. H 12 1/4".
