Manganese-Glazed Redware Jar, Eastern TN or Southwestern VA origin, possibly Greene County, TN, circa 1820-1860, highly-ovoid jar with footed base, tapering collar with flattened rim, and ribbed open-strap handles with depressed terminals, the shoulder decorated with heavily-incised straight and wavy line designs, the surface covered in a dark-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. A chip to one handle. Some surface wear. H 8".
