Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Decoration, AL origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and semi-rounded rim, decorated around the collar and upper body with incised combing interspersed with incised lines, the surface coated in a glossy gray-green alkaline glaze. A large T-shaped crack to base area on front, extending onto underside, where it forms a long, thin semi-circular crack. Several additional short vertical lines and thin cracks at base, extending a short distance onto underside. Two short lines to collar and a short line to spout. Underside with recent, raised red-painted inscription, "DRANG / MOTHER / PATE(?)". H 9 7/8".
