Fine Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to Zachary T. Ussery, Randolph County, AL, circa 1875, ovoid-bellied pitcher with wide, footed base, incised banding, and narrow collar with flared rim, the surface coated in a runny olive-colored alkaline glaze. Described in Wahler's notes with the following: "One of my favorite pieces of pottery. Was able to buy it after the fact from the person who bought it at auction." A 3/4" in-the-firing ping to rim on reverse. A few small base chips. H 9 5/8".
