Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Rutile Decoration, attributed to Shimuel Timmerman, Lanier County, GA, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jug with tooled, tapering spout and small applied handle, the surface covered in a light-olive alkaline glaze with rarely-seen rutile runs descending from the shoulder and base of the handle. Shallow chipping around spout. A thin 7" vertical crack to proper right side of jug. Two tight horizontal lines at base of handle, however no part of handle is reglued. H 12".
