Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Lid, probably NC origin, early to mid 19th century, spherical jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, flared rim, and ribbed strap handles with depressed terminals, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Includes original lead-glazed lid with stepped, rounded finial. Provenance: Garth's Auction, Delaware, OH, October 13-14, 1989, lot 100. Jar with a shallow 1" flake and minor flake to rim, a shallow 1 1/8" flake to one handle, base chips, and surface wear. Lid with small edge chips, edge wear, the tip of the finial with an in-the-firing ping and wear. H (including lid) 14".
