Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Catawba Valley, NC or possibly Thomas Owenby, Union District, SC, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with narrow, flattened rim, arched lug handles, and heavily-tooled shoulder, the surface covered in a mottled-brown alkaline glaze. Wahler states in her notes, "I think this jar is an Owenby." Rim with two large losses and a chip. A 1 1/4" worn section to one handle. H 16 3/4".
