Scarce Alkaline-Glazed Handled Stoneware Jar, Stamped "W.F. HAHN / TRENTON / SC," late 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, slightly-flared rim, and applied handle on reverse, the surface covered in an attractive olive to brown alkaline glaze with high gloss. Impressed with W.F. HAHN maker's mark near base. Unusual form. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. A 2" flake to top edge of rim. A small rim chip. A thin 2 1/2" crack on underside, forming a 7" Y on reverse. Traces of old green paint to surface, primarily on interior and underside, unrelated to any sort of restoration. H 10 1/2".
