One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "EVAN R. JONES / PITTSTON, PA.," circa 1875, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and pierced clay tabs with wood-and-wire bail handle, brush-decorated on the reverse with a large tulip plant and on the front with a large tulip blossom. Cobalt highlights to base of spout, applied clay tabs, maker's mark, and capacity mark. Significant restoration to proper left side of pail, covering a large crack and possibly more. Staining to surface. A small spout chip. H 10".
