Stoneware Jar with Abstract Cobalt Decoration, Western PA or OH origin, second or third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated with large scalloped strokes accented with two spots, possibly representing a large flower blossom. Cobalt highlights to top of handles. This jar shares some similarities to pieces produced at the Miller pottery in Trumbull County, OH as well as the John Greenland pottery of Connellsville, PA. A 2 3/4" flake to proper right handle. A 2 5/8" chip to rim on reverse. Some staining to reverse. H 12 3/8".
