Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "KNOTTS.SWINDLER & CO / PALATINE / W VA.," circa 1875, cylindrical form with recessed "wax sealer" rim, featuring Knotts, Swindler & Co maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled flourish. Some shallow in-the-making chipping to interior of rim, which is glazed over. A few minor chips to inner wax sealer rim. Some minor residue and minor staining to surface. Some minor in-the-firing surface crazing to underside/base, not visible on interior. H 7 7/8".
