Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "RICHEY & / HAMILTON. / PALATINE.W.VA.," circa 1875, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with two wavy freehand stripes above intricate maker's stenciling incorporating numerous spots. A stenciled "2" appears beside the maker's stenciling and a smaller stenciled "2" with foliate device appears below. Very nice condition with some wear to interior of rim, some light surface wear to body of jar, and a 1/2" in-the-firing ping to reverse of jar. H 10 1/2".
