Scarce Stoneware Spaniel on Base with Two-Color Slip Decoration, attributed to the Donaghho Pottery, Parkersburg WV, circa 1890, molded figure of a spaniel seated on an octagonal base, the surface coated in a whitish Bristol slip and decorated with cobalt and Albany slip spots, a cobalt collar and locket, and Albany-slip-decorated ears and tail. Incised details to face and paws. Base decorated with cobalt dashes. Pen inscription on underside reads "Keep in Familey". A particularly fine example. Provenance: Reportedly descended in the family of a pottery employee in the West Virginia area; Crocker Farm, Inc., July 16, 2011, lot 139. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 9 3/4".
