Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONE WARE CO, / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with ringed neck and unusual turned-head stance, perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A narrow 1 3/8" flake to spout. Two minor chips to interior of spout. A few small in-the-firing iron pings. A faint, 2 1/2" horizontal line at base. Some minor staining. H 14".
