Scarce Six-Quart Schenectady, NY Stoneware Advertising Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with an abstract slip-trailed foliate design accented with spots. Impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "SWARTFIGUER & SON, / CROCKERY & STONE WARE / 55 & 202 STATE STREET, / SCHENECTADY, N. Y." Underside includes a period notation in black ink(?), reading "/4 / 3/4." Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Very nice condition with a 5/8" chip and tiny nick to proper left handle and a small area of sticker residue to shoulder. H 8".
