Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Incised Floral Decoration, attributed to George Lent, Troy, NY, circa 1820, highly-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a four-petaled flowering plant with striped details to the leaves and petals and appealing omission of the cobalt at the center of the blossom. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional size to the design, superb color, and desirable smallish size to the vessel. Excellent condition with some in-the-firing warping, an area of wear below decoration on front, areas of staining, and some in-the-firing iron deposits. H 11 1/2".
