Anna Pottery Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Frog Mug, Inscribed "Cairo is my home," Signed "anna / ill / 1889," Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, 1889, tapering cylindrical form with footed base and tooled shoulder, incised at the shoulder, "Cairo is my home" and on the underside with the signature, "anna / ill / 1889." Interior with molded figure of a frog with impressed eyes and incised mouth, painted black, surrounded by melted glass simulating water. Surface of mug coated in a chocolate-brown Albany slip glaze. Provenance: Acquired by the consignor directly from a member of the Kirkpatrick family in the 1970s. Excellent condition with a small rim chip. H 2 5/8".
