Extremely Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Cow and Floral Decorations, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated below one handle with a brushed design of a cow facing a stump or possibly a trough with hay. Large horizontal tulip motifs decorate the shoulder on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Rim chips. Significant shallow chipping around base. A large piece of in-the-firing clay adhered to reverse, including a small surface chip and salt drip. Light surface wear. H 13".
