Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "J. BURGER, JR. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed plant motif featuring unusual spotted trails. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Brushed cobalt accent to maker's mark. A thin 3 3/4" diagonal crack from rim on reverse. Staining throughout. Surface is somewhat tacky. H 9".
