Rare Blue-Glazed Stoneware Face "Voodoo Jug," Signed Edwin Meaders / 4-23-1995," Cleveland, GA origin, 1995, ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including eyes with pronounced lashes, crescent-shaped ears, nose with carved nostrils, closed mouth and rounded chin, the surface heavily-incised with line and geometric designs throughout as well as stick figure motifs on the cheeks, ears, and extending from the forehead to nose. An additional design of a skull and cross bones, walking stick figure, and dog are incised on the reverse. Reverse bears the inscription, "VOO / DOO / JUG / #15 / J.C." Surface covered in blue glaze with weeping green highlights to eyes. Incised Edwin Meaders signature and date on underside. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10".
