Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Alexandria, VA Advertising Jar, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the extensive stenciled advertising, "E.J. MILLER, SON & CO / IMPORTERS & WHOLESALE / DEALERS IN QUEENSWARE / CHINA, GLASSWARE AND HOUSE FURNISHING GOODS / NO. 65 KING ST. / ALEXANDRIA. VA.," surrounding a stenciled sunrise. Freehand stripe decoration above and below. Freehand "2" with flourish to left of stenciling. Light surface wear and minor water glass staining to exterior. A tiny nick to shoulder molding. Water glass staining to interior. H 11 1/2".
