Fine Glazed Redware Lidded Jar, Stamped "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840, ovoid jar with footed base and coved rim, the surface covered in a mottled, reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Includes original domed lid with pointed finial. Old sticker on underside reads, "covered jar / Daniel Heefner / Mercersburg." Desirable form, surviving in remarkable condition. Jar in excellent condition with very minor wear. Lid in excellent condition with a small glazed-over flake to flange on underside, the flange with additional minor chips, probably in-the-making. Both jar and lid include some minor sticker residue. H (including lid) 7 3/4".
