Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware "Ice Water" Cooler with Incised Decoration, attributed to the Wingender Pottery, Haddonfield, NJ, late 19th century, keg-form cooler with coggled and incised banding to shoulder and base, the midsection with incised foliate design flanking the inscription, "Ice Water." Base with bunghole molded in the form of a bearded man's face. Impressed "2" at base. Cobalt highlights throughout. Includes metal spigot and original domed lid with cobalt banding and Albany-slip-coated top, covered in a clear salt glaze. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. Cooler with a 2 1/4" vertical line from rim on front, an in-the-firing contact mark to "c" in "Ice," a minor glazed-over chip to interior of rim, and some staining. Lid with two adjacent edge chips and wear to underside. H 13 3/4".
