Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A.J. BUTTLER / MANUFACTURER / NEW-BRUNSWICK, N.J.," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, inscribed with a cobalt "6" below the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark of A.J. Buttler. Reverse decorated with a brushed floral motif. Two chips to interior of rim, one of which is glazed over. A 1 7/8" in-the-firing surface fissure to interior of rim. H 13 1/4".
