Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & Co / ROCHESTER N.Y.," circa 1839-1851, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and coved rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with dashed blossom. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Two thin cracks from rim on front, measuring 5 1/2" and 3 1/2". A 5 1/2" crack from rim on reverse including small chips on interior. A minor chip to exterior of rim. A short, minor in-the-firing line on interior of rim. Some staining. Light wear to cobalt. H 10 3/4".
