Rare Stoneware Jug with Profuse Albany, NY Advertising, Albany, NY origin, circa 1825, narrow, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "W A WHARTON. / WHOLESALE&RETAIL / DEALER IN / DRUGS MEDICINS(sic) PAINTS / OILS AND.DYE STUFFS / 377 SOUTH MARKET STREET / OPPOSITE THE OLD MUSEUM / ALBANY." Includes early wooden stopper. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Staining throughout. Tight in-the-firing fissures to handle terminals. A tight 2 3/4" line to shoulder. Small chips around base. Two in-the-firing iron pings to proper right side of jug, one of which is very minor. H 16 1/2".
