Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT:," circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of conjoined, heart-shaped leaves accented with spots. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Heavy chipping to rim. A 2 1/4" surface line below proper right handle, not visible on interior. Light wear to cobalt. A small in-the-firing ping below proper left handle. Light staining. H 10 5/8".
