Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Bird on Branch Motif, Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & Co. / GEDDES,N.Y.," circa 1860, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a bird with dashed body and solid-cobalt wing, perched on a looping flourished with spotted flower emanating from it. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. Very nice condition with some small in-the-firing surface flaws and minor surface wear. H 11 1/2".
