Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Rabbit Decoration, Stamped "NORTON & FENTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1845, highly-ovoid jug with squared spout, brush-decorated with a leaping rabbit above a leafy stem. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Among the more vivid renderings of this Bennington design that we have offered. Provenance: Vose Collection. Excellent condition with a smooth in-the-firing contact mark to reverse and some staining. H 13".
