Four-Gallon Boston, MA Stoneware Advertising Jug with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a large, brushed and slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a striped ground. Impressed above with the advertising, "WALKER & CO. / 27 HAVERHILL STREET. / BOSTON, MASS." Cobalt highlights to advertising and capacity mark. Some fry to cobalt. Significant exfoliation to reverse / proper left side of jug. Staining to surface. A tight 1 3/4" line to shoulder on front. Two minor nicks and a minor line to spout. H 17 1/2".
