Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "J. SWANK & CO. / JOHNSTOWN, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated with a vertical swag motif around the shoulder. A thin 4 1/2" crack from rim. Crazing and some water glass staining to surface. Shallow chipping to rim, some of which is glazed over. H 12 1/2".
