Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars with Alexandria, VA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a one-gallon jar with freehand stripe decoration, stenciled "E.J. MILLER & SON. / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / QUEENS WARE / ALEXANDRIA. VA.;" paired with a two-gallon jar with stenciled designs and freehand stripe decoration, stenciled "E.J. MILLER & CO. / QUEENSWARE & C. / ALEXANDRIA. VA." Smaller with large restoration to base area. Larger with a 3 1/2" x 7/8" reglued section to rim, two chips to interior of rim, a long crack to base extending onto underside, a long crack to underside extending several inches up body of jar, a short in-the-firing separation at base, fry to cobalt, and some staining to surface. H (of larger) 11 1/2".
