Three Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, American, 19th century, two cylindrical jars with swag and hanging flower motifs, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840; paired with an ovoid jar with stylized floral motif, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century. Provenance: Recently excavated at a North Carolina residence dating back to 1798. Half-gallon jar in excellent condition with light surface wear and small glazed-over base chip. One-gallon jar with a short in-the-firing line from rim, a Y-shaped line across underside, extending onto base, some surface wear, and two small base flakes. Other jar with crack from rim and light surface wear. H (of smallest) 8 5/8".
