Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, NY State origin, second half 19th century, a four-gallon crock with slip-trailed decoration of a fan-tailed bird on branch, stamped "WHITES UTICA," circa 1875, paired with a two-gallon advertising jug, stenciled "PARK & TILFORD / NEW YORK.," with later painted scene of a forest scene with bird eating a worm. Crock with a 7/8" reglued chip above proper right handle, fry to cobalt, a 3 3/4" line from rim on front, a chip to proper right handle, a minor chip and some crazing to proper left handle, a 1 1/2" partially glazed-over flake at base on reverse. Jug with small spout chips and traces of green paint to surface. H (of jug) 14".
