Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, American, second half 19th century, a six-gallon ovoid jar with brushed horizontal floral decoration, Midwestern origin, circa 1860; paired with a three-gallon cylindrical jar with horizontal foliate motifs, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870. Six-gallon jar with chips to interior of rim, a large chip to proper left handle, shallow chipping to proper right handle, a 4" crack on underside, continuing 3" up reverse, and significant grease staining. Three-gallon jar with a large Y-shaped hairline on underside, continuing 2 1/4" onto base, and some light staining. H (of larger) 16".
