Two Four-Gallon Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decorations, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, one with large and elaborate slip-trailed bird on branch motif, stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD / BURLINGTON VT," the other with slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird with turned head, perched on a vine, stamped "WHITE'S UTICA NY." Ballard crock with long, thin cracks and staining. White's crock with proper left handle missing, cracks to shoulder area, and staining. H (of Ballard crock) 12".
