Two Four-Gallon Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, both of ovoid form, one with slip-trailed spiraling floral motif, stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD. / BURLINGTON. VT," the other stamped "D. ROBERTS BINGHAMTON NY." Ballard jar with a spider crack to proper left side and some bubbling to cobalt. Roberts jar with a 2" line from rim on front, fry to cobalt, a short surface line at base on reverse, and in-the-firing base chips. H 12 1/2".
