Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Pheasant Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a pheasant with turned head, perched on a tree stump with ground cover below. A large spider crack on proper right side of jug's front. A large inverted T-shaped line on proper left side of jug. A 1 1/4" line from spout. A few minor spout chips. Paint residue to surface. Some wear to surface. Two filled base chips. H 14".
