Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "FROM / J. EBERLY & BRO. / STRASBURG, VA.", circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a large flower in the Strasburg style emanating from three groups of swags. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed with Eberly shield mark below one handle. A 2 3/4" in-the-firing flake to underside along edge. A small base chip and two minor in-the-firing base chips. A small chip to one handle. A shallow 1" chip to opposing handle. Small rim chips along with a shallow 7/8" in-the-firing rim chip. Rim slightly out-of-round. In-the-firing contact marks to surface. H 13 1/2".
