Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H.C. SMITH / ALEXA / D.C.," Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA, circa 1835, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and rounded rim, brush-decorated with an oval surrounding the mark of Wilkes Street Pottery owner, Hugh Charles Smith, including three leaves descending from it. Shoulder decorated around with chain links. Provenance: From a forty-five-year VA collection. Some surface wear and staining. A minor in-the-firing ping to rim. H 7 1/8".
